Various - Amp 2
Astralwerks

Okay, I've got to admit that the first time I heard Genius by northern england electro rocksters Pitchshifter I never thought for one nanosecond I'd ever hear a mix by the amazing Luke Vibert. Come to think of I'm still kind of blown away by the Beck mix of french duo Air's Sexy Boy.

Introducing the second compilation album from MTV's incredibly successful and cutting edge late night electronic music showcase, which actually does a great job of introducing newcomers to the genre as well as exposing the hardened and jaded among us to some of the best there is on a regular basis.

Shortly after electronicmusic.com came online, in March of 1997, we reviewed the first Amp compilation entitled, you guessed it, Amp 1, and since then we've seen and heard lots of great new stuff come along and stick around. But surprisingly MTV decided not to start pumping these compilations out on a monthly basis (which they easily could have done).

Expect raging grooves from Propellerheads. A kind of retro-motown inner-city sampler from Pigeonhed, and highly technical descriptions of top-secret futuristic military hardware and field missions from Dr. Octaganolygist himself Kool Keith while Hardkiss supply the characteristically solid and imaginative soundscapes.

Something for absolutely anyone.
