John Digweed - Digweed019
Boxed
When asked by James Todd and Andy Horsfield, the bosses of Boxed Records, where
he'd like to go and lay the groundwork for the nineteenth in a succesful
Global Underground series of compilations John Digweed opted for Los Angeles.
He could have named any location on the planet (Sidney and Hong Kong were his
two other Global Underground destinations of choice), been shipped off with
a crew of electronic music production specialists and had the natives doing
pretty much the same thing they do everywhere else he does his stuff, but instead
he targeted The Mayan Theater in downtown LA, a venue that may well have been
custom built to host what turned out to be a five and a half hour performance
from the English DJ.
The end result is Digweed019, a double CD set which we feel justifies inclusion
in any must have list. It pretty much brings you up to date on where things
are at these days, with source material from the likes of Photek, Medway and
Cass to name but a few.
