The Orb with David Gilmour - Metallic Spheres

Presented in two parts to be played in its entirety in one sitting you (the Listener) will first experience what I shall refer to as side 1. 'Metallic Side' (24'48") and then side 2 'Spheres Side' (25'09"), each side comprising five interconnected movements.

Within each movement is a veritable astral smorgsaboard of wonder and joy.

How could there not be? Are you not a human.

We are talking about The Orb and David Gilmour collaborating on an album here.

At once effortless, drifting through time and space leaving Music in its wake, the journey is familiar without ever knowing or caring why.

It is quite obviously David Gilmour playing guitar, singing and providing other sounds, but within a space rarely entered by those with such recognizable attributes

Bluegrass floating through now, with a hint of J. Airplane's 'Have You Seen The Stars Tonight' makes me even more comfortably numb.

There goes the division bell again.

The incessant urge to hear what's coming up next juxtaposed with a slow tumbling through countless miles of jelly places one in a situation never usually experienced whilst listening to music, it's like one half is going backwards while the other half is going forwards, which contributes to the physcadelic feel of the whole album I suppose.

Along with the digital version there's also a 140 gram vinyl version available and a deluxe 2-CD version that includes an extra disc allowing a 360-degree sound experience without the need of special equipment.
