And The Audiotool Moogfest Winner Is...

April 2, 2014

Kepz wins a trip to Asheville in April to play a set at Moogfest. His track Lost was deemed to be the top dog from hundreds of entries by a jury consisting of Jona Becholt, Daedelus, Trent Wolbe and Bottin, all of which will also be appearing at the 2014 Moogfest along with Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A and many more.

While listening through all the shortlisted entries, all of which will join Kepz on a tape to be handed out at the fest, I was struck by the fact that they were all created using Audiotool. So what IS Audiotool? Well it's basically an online music workstation capable of letting literllay anyone anywhere in the world, or even on the space station, make music using nothing but a computer and some ears.

We'll provide a link to the site in a few moments but just so you get the general idea imagine a virtual desktop where you can connect virtual devices using virtual cables and make actual real life sound come out of your real life speakers. Synths, effects units, controllers, samplers in fact anything you can think of is there waiting to be dragged onto the work area and connected together with other stuff.

There's also quite a strong emphasis on community at Audiotool, so you can spend most of your time just listening to music created by other people, and when you're ready you can create your own and share it with everyone else.

OK so here are some links. Here's a link to the Moogfest competition winner and runner ups, here, and a link to Audiotool itself here.
