During the introduction Subotnick explained why the performance wasn't an exact reproduction of the work, which would have been impossible without "plugging a tape recorder in", but instead would take advantage of the new technologies introduced since the original recording was made, with an emphasis on Ableton's Live software and new hardware from Buchla, with whom Subnotick collaborated with in the 60's on development of some of the very first modular synthesizers.
