Sparks - The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman

As rock operas go this one by 80's pop darlings Sparks rates pretty highly in my book, even on first listen.

We open with Ingmar Bergman somehow ending up in Hollywood being driven from hotel to studio to restaurant to studio to soundstage by some guy with an annoying voice who seems to have it out for the poor old fella.

The string pads thicken as the old man sickens as Sparks refrains rise and fall along the way, sailing along on a heavy theatrical pad that carries us from start to finish.

As Ingmar spirals into oblivion at around the fifty minute mark, the brothers Mael really start turning it on. Finally Mr Bergman decides to walk the rest of the way, ending up in a movie theater with Greta Garbo, and then...

The whole work is one single track so you have to download it as a complete album, which I like the concept of immensely.
